In 2017, at the end of NŌK CHOC Founder and President Idara Otu’s professional
athletic career, her commitment to growth and excellence took on new meaning
when she founded Let Girls Read, Run, Grow (LGRRG)—a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization dedicated to empowering African girls in Nigeria through education,
athletics, and entrepreneurship. Recognizing the urgent need to address the
educational and developmental challenges faced by girls in Nigeria and the
broader sub-Saharan region, she set out to make a difference.
Since its inception, LGRRG has made significant strides in creating opportunities
for girls to thrive. By collaborating with schools, local communities, and
international partners, the organization has provided essential resources and
support to thousands of young girls, helping them unlock their full potential.
This journey of empowerment led to a significant milestone in LGRRG's growth:
the establishment of their flagship program, Camp NexGen™—the ultimate SPORT
x STEAM experience. Launched in 2019, this initiative combines sports-specific
training with a build-a-drone workshop and entrepreneurial skills development,
fostering holistic growth and self-sufficiency among participants. As LGRRG
continues to expand its reach and impact, it remains steadfast in its commitment
to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow with the opening of its girls' primary school,
LGRRG Academy, in 2025.
